How to get into real estate

My tips for real estate are the same as my tips for sales. The one caveat being that real estate is very saturated, and there aren’t many homes for the agents. In order to succeed in real estate you need to sell at least 5 or 6 homes a year, and ideally about a dozen. Well there are about as many homes for sale as there are registered real estate agents. So you do the math.

I’ll say two things about it. Either you’re in it for the long haul or you use the license to benefit you in other ways. What I mean by the long haul is that your first year of real estate you’ll probably hardly make any money. It takes time to build your reputation and your knowledge. But if you are persistent with real estate, by the 2nd or 3rd year you could be making $50k to $100k a year. What’s great about real estate is the sky is the limit. As your influence grows you’ll get more houses and get more listings. You may even need to hire a staff to help you. Many people have turned a real estate license into multi million dollar empires. But it takes a lot of time and patience.

As for benefiting you in other ways you can use the licencse to get into flipping homes (buying shitty houses, fixing them up, then selling them for more than you paid) or use the license to get referral money. When you refer a house listing to an agent, they can give you a cut of the money they make on the sale.
